Did you know that over 27% of children, more than 1 in 4, lives below the poverty level in San Antonio? This represents an 8% increase over the last decade. Children living in poverty are more likely to receive inadequate nutrition and be food insecure, live in substandard housing (or be homeless), have inadequate childcare, lack access to health care, have more behavioral and emotional problems, live in unsafe neighborhoods, and have lower academic achievement than their peers.
